Leith Scottish Women’s Institute (SWI) : Leith Community Education Centre (Kirkgate) : 7.00 – 9.00pm (2nd & 4th Tuesday of the month): Links Room
The Leith Institute (formed in 2013) of the National Scottish Women’s Institute which celebrates it’s centenary in 2017. We have a small core groups of about 15 members and other ‘pay as you go’ members who drop in. We meet for a variety of different activities (something different every time). We do a lot of crafts such as knitting, quilling, felting, card making and we’ve also had different demonstrations and workshops such as Bollywood dancing, fruit carving, sugar icing and upcycling and we also love any activities involving food including trying herbal teas, making truffles, chocolate tasting and a health food night. Davy Lees: Leith Folk Club - 7.30pm - £8
With Support. In the 70s, Motherwell singer and guitarist Davy Lees was a member of the well respected Auld Howff Band, where he also played flute. An accomplished performer and storyteller with a vast repertoire of songs ranging from traditional Scottish to popular contemporary folk standards. He recently returned to the folk circuit as a solo performer and we're utterly delighted to see him.
