Children and Staff at Stanwell Nursery School, Leith, have been busy over the last year working hard to be an Eco School. We are working towards gaining a Green Flag Award. The children have created a new garden at the back of the School growing potatoes, peas, carrots, beans, tomatoes and rhubarb.

Steve, local chef from Dr. Bells Café came to the nursery this week. Together, Steve and the children picked the vegetables that were ready and cooked with them making a lovely warm potato salad, health sandwiches and stewed rhubarb and yoghurt. All of the children tasted their own cooking and loved it.

Steve is hoping to start cookery classes for parents in the nursery later this year. The emphasis will be on healthy eating and using fresh local produce.
