Click here for other bars in Leith
Joseph Pearce started a very popular bar at the top of Leith Walk in what seems now like a different age. Joe's long gone now but the bar is just as popular if not even more so.
Joseph Pearce's (the bar's, not old Joe's) imposing presence at the Northern (going towards Leith) end of Elm Row is easy to spot particularly during the more clement months when you can sit outisde with your friends, a drink in hand, watching the world go by while you relax in what must be the most comfortable outside seating around.
Come inside and you'll find a bustling bar set out in the Swedish style we're getting used to here in Leith (see Sofi's Bar, Boda Bar and Victoria Bar). So as well as the usual beer, wine and spirits you'd expect you'll also be able to sample some Swedish delicacies.
Food is served all day!
Would you believe they have a creche? Well whatever you believe you'll find a children's play area in the raised section at the back. Don't let this put you off if you just want a quiet pint, though, as it's far away from the bar and you won't be bothered by irritating small people. (Well, not kids anyway!)
What's On?
Happy Walpurgis Night!
In Sweden we call it Valborg, and we light Bonfires and sing Spring songs. I get a very special feeling about Valborg, it is feeling of spring, long nights, happiness, eternity and a great party feeling! Despite what everyone is thinking Swedes do not get naked and paint ourselves – that is the Scots doing Beltane! Happy Beltane to all of you!
Apres Ski = After Jog Party! It maybe doesn’t sound as cool, but I am convinced that After Jog Parties is a great idea or at least fun. Especially since the Hash House Harriers had a great night in JP’s. I know lots of people that is doing the Bupa Edinburgh Run on Sunday 2nd May. Bring in your medal and you get 2 for 1 Main meals in Joseph Pearce’s.
