The King's Wark Restaurant and Bar: The King’s Wark has been refreshing the good and great of Leith for as long as there have been Leithers. One of the oldest buildings in Leith, the King’s Wark is certainly not short of character and as such offers a welcome break from the glossy façade that now covers so much of EH6.

Sofis: Sofi's is fast becoming the 'place to be' in Leith with its off the wall attitude and its more than excellent staff. Feels more like a public living room than a public bar. The Moose pizza (no kidding - they really sell Moose pizza) has to be tasted to be believed. Come and visit soon before it gets too crowded to get in - you won't be disappointed!

Boda Bar was the first of three excellent Swedish bars to spring up in Leith. Like its two sister bars, Sofi's and Victoria, Boda excels in allowing you to feel as comfortable as you would in a Swedish home.. Pleasant, soft furnishings combined with regularly changing art exhibits, superbe fare and a staff who clearly enjoy working on the premises ensures that a visit to Boda Bar provides a fine time.

The Persevere Bar and Restaurant: With a gorgeous suite of Victorian rooms - original Spanish mahogany, late nineteenth century tiled murals, splendid green leather seating. The atmosphere too is well worth coming along to experience - a great selection of beers and spirits and a wide, traditional pub-fare menu, all fairly priced. Everyone is catered for as the place is both family and vegetarian friendly.

The Ship on the Shore: There are few establishments in Leith that manage to combine a successful restaurant with a thriving, bar - most tend to excel in one and lag slightly in the other. That's not the case at The Ship on the Shore where drinkers are catered for with the same care with which the kitchen impresses its own patrons: comfortable seating, a fine range of beers and wines and barstaff who know what they're doing.

The Port O' Leith Bar:The Port O' Leith Bar. What can we say? I remember this place as a favourite when I used to drink here in Leith over 20 years ago. Nothing much has changed other than the lack of tobacco smoke and the addition of some new beverages. Other than that it's the same wonderful place it ever was. You just have to visit the Port at least once otherwise you just won't know what everyone is talking about. Don't miss it!

Joseph Pearce's:Joseph Pearce started a very popular bar at the top of Leith Walk in what seems now like a different age. Joe's long gone now but the bar is just as popular if not even more so. Joseph Pearce's imposing presence at the Northern (going towards Leith) end of Elm Row is easy to spot particularly during the more clement months when you can sit outisde with your friends, a drink in hand, watching the world go by while you relax in what must be the most comfortable outside seating around.

Nobles: Established in 1897 and recently re-opened with a revamp and a very positive change in direction by the new owners, Nobles is once more providing the welcome and service it was once famous for. And it's great to see it back and doing well. Nobles retains one of the most beautiful Victorian interiors that still survive in Edinburgh. This place is well worth a visit. Food served all day, homemade delights, fairtrade coffee and great things on tap - free wi-fi too!
