The Pageant Route Has Been Changed - The Fun Stays The Same!
The Leith Festival Parade on Saturday 07 June 2008 has changed it's route.
Due to tram works and diversion of traffic this year's parade will start at Lochend Park (opposite Loch Inn Pub), down Lochend Road, Vanburg Place, Hermitage Place, Links Gardens and then onto Leith Links to join the excitement of Leith Festival Gala Day.
The box office will soon be open for you to buy tickets for all your favourite events and shows so WATCH THIS SPACE
Leith Festival Gala Day - Saturday 7th June
The Leith Festival Gala Day takes place on Saturday 7th June 2008 on Leith Links.
We have an afternoon packed with events starting with the Gala Day Parade from Pilrig Park, down Leith Walk, along Duke Street (past the new Leith Festival office) and onto Leith Links.
During the afternoon, a full programme of live bands will entertain you. As well as the many stalls selling everything from arts & crafts, bric-a-brac, antiques and food, we have pony rides, the annual Tug-of-War competition and live radio with Leith FM on 98.8 Mhz.
Leith Festival Parade - 'Walk The Walk'
Parade starts at 12.30pm on Pilrig Street.
Join us in the celebration of the centenary of Leith Festival. Music, dance and colour collide as all that is Leith comes together!
Opening Ceremony @ 1.30pm-2.30pm
The "Provost of Leith" opens the festivities after the parade has arrived.
Country Dancing @ 2.30pm-3.00pm
A display of country dancing by local primary school children.
Poster Competition Prize Giving @ 1.30pm-2.30pm
Presentation of prizes to all the winners.
Raffle @ 4.00pm
Tickets from Leith Festival stall. Donations to raffle from Brighthouse, Somerfield (Restalrig Road), J.D. Weatherspoons, Clydesday Bank, Douglas McKay (ex rector of Leith Academy), Hold Catering, Taylors Funfair - and many others.
